Those living within the Wind-Borne Debris zone shaded in blue are required by code to have Wind-Borne debris impact doors plus hurricane impact glass or hurricane shutters. Those living in Broward and Dade Counties shaded in red are required by code to have HVHZ doors plus hurricane impact glass.

The frames that hold the impact glass in the doors are also heavy duty. The impact frames from our seven manufacturers have all been tested to meet High-Velocity Hurricane Zone standards. Most homeowners opting for this are in coastal areas but many homeowners who live more inland also want the added peace of mind of impact glass.

Hurricane impact glass can also be etched with tropical, aquatic, geometric or custom themes in a huge selection of previously-made or custom designs and can be done on either clear glass, textured glass or even on enclosed blind inserts. If you desire higher privacy, we suggest etching on textured glass. If you’re looking for more visibility then we recommend etching on clear glass inserts. And if you want both visibility and privacy depending on the time and need, then enclosed blinds are the way to go.
